Tom & Debbie O’Carroll celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with exciting magic, fun comedy and lively songs about our amazing satellite. Learn about astronauts and NASA’s mathematician Katherine Johnson!

Tuesday July 23, 10:30am  CNY Drone Demo, Ages 9-16

LIMIT of 30 PARTICIPANTS – SIGN UP REQUIRED!

Includes a history of drones, drone safety, drone display and a discussion of the variety of drones available for use. Attendees will “ride along”with the drone pilots through first person view flying as they run through various obstacles. Visit www.cnydrones.org

Thursday July 25, 10:30 – Dinosaur Dig! with field paleontologists Mike and Roberta Straka

LIMIT of 50 PARTICIPANTS – SIGN UP REQUIRED!

Mike and Roberta will construct a dinosaur dig in the library! Mike begins with an interactive fossil talk followed by showing a 66million year old meteorite.  The dino dig will follow with participants using brushes to find, identify and place fossils on a Triceratops mat.

SUMMER CHALLENGE

MISSION: Read books that correspond to specific descriptions on the list that will be given to you (For example: Read  a book with a mystery; read a book with a 7-word title; read a chapter book with illustrations, etc.)  After  reading the book, check it off your list. You will have from June 27 to August 16 to complete the challenge and earn a special edition Summer Reading Program t-shirt. Captains’ logs will be available at the June 27 magic show.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM FOR ADULTS
(for ages 16 and up), both buildings

Sign up begins July 1!

The first 50 people to sign up at each library will receive a goody back of book-related items

For each book read between 7/1 and 9/4, fill out a review form and enter it into the prize drawing of your choice. Books must be 200 pages or more to count as an entry. Please enter drawings at only one library building.

Extra prize entries can be earned by attending a program at the library between 7/1 and 9/4, such as a book discussion, movie or other adult program. The library Calendar of Events is available on our website. Forms will be  available at each program.

Wednesday, July 10, 6:30pm: Make Your Own Wildflower Seed Bombs

Adults and ages 12 and up

Wildflower Seed Bombs, composed of clay, compost and seeds, are the ultimate solution to creating a meadow border or garden or to fill a bare area with plants. Bomb the countryside! Take them on trail walks. These seed bombs include native wildflowers that are beloved by pollinators alike butterflies and bees.
