ABOUT US
The Sullivan Free Library serves the Town of Sullivan (population 15,339) with two locations, one in the village of Chittenango and one in the hamlet of Bridgeport. Between the two libraries, over 12,000 people have been issued library cards. Approximately 200 people use the libraries daily with a yearly attendance of over 100,000. The Bridgeport building is open Monday – Saturday for most of the year (Monday – Friday in the summer) and the Chittenango building is open Monday – Saturday year round.
The libraries offer a variety of PROGRAMS for children and adults.
The Sullivan Free Library is a member of the Mid-York library system, a consortium that serves 43 libraries in Madison, Oneida and Herkimer counties. This allows patrons to borrow materials from all 43 libraries, significantly increasing the requests that can be filled locally. If we are unable to get an item for you from any of the Mid-York libraries, we may be able to borrow the item from outside our library system via InterLibrary Loan (ILL).
Sullivan Free Library resources include a well-rounded collection of over 70,000 books, 7,000 audiovisual materials, and 1,500 periodicals. The library provides an electronic catalog, including online databases, that is available to patrons from their home computers and mobile devices. Library users are able to download ebooks, audiobooks, movies and music from home using library resources.
