The announcement we have all been waiting for!
Both branches of the library are now open to the public. We encourage people to visit the library to browse for & check out books, use the computer, make copies & send faxes but to keep visits short. The goal is to reduce the number of people in the buildings at any time to keep our community & staff safe.
Our hours will be: Monday-Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-2.
How Grab & Go Will Work:
1.WEAR A MASK. In accordance with county & state executive orders, everyone who enters the building over the age of 2 must wear a mask or face covering. Curbside Pickup will continue to be available to anyone not able to wear a mask. Please scroll down for Curbside information.
2. COMPUTERS will be available for one session per person per day, for up to 60 minutes. No additional time will be possible, even if no one is waiting. Only one computer per table will be in use at any time.
3. RESTROOMS will be available on a limited basis.
4. RETURNS should be made through the library book drops outside of the building so items can be placed into quarantine for 4 days. Due dates will be adjusted to reflect quarantine times.
5. COMMUNITY ROOMS will not be available for use at this time.
6. PROGRAMS will take place virtually or by take-out activities.
7. PHYSICAL DISTANCING markers will be in place at circulation desks to help maintain the recommended 6 ft. There will be limited seating available in each building.
8. CURBSIDE PICKUP will still be available to anyone who prefers to use that service.
9. LIBRARY PROGRAMS will be conducted via Zoom or with take-away activities.
10. SUMMER READING LOGS for children and adults will be available for pick up at both libraries.

We’ll select material based on your interests.
If you don’t want to come into our buildings, we are still offering Curbside Pickup
- Curbside Pickup will allow patrons to reserve books, audiobooks, DVDs & other materials online at midyork.orgor by calling 315-633-2253 (BP) 315-687-6331 (CH) or by emailing: Bridgeport@midyork.org or Chittenango@midyork.org
- At this time, there is no delivery between libraries in the Midyork system, so your requests will be limited to items owned by each of our libraries.
- We will notify you via email or phone when your order is ready. You may then set up an appointment for pick up at the library where you have requested the materials.
- Patrons who are coming to pick up items must wear a mask & practice appropriate social distancing.
- A table will be set up outside the main door of the library. Your items will be checked out & waiting on the table in a labeled bag at your agreed upon pickup time. If not picked up within an hour, items will be returned to the library & another pickup time will be scheduled.
- If you are physically unable to walk to the library’s entrance, please alert the staff when you schedule your pickup time so that other arrangements can be made.
- If you are unable to come to the library to pick up items, please let us know & we can arrange for a volunteer from Chittenango Rotary to bring them to your home.
- If you have materials to return, please leave them in the library’s book drop. Do not leave returns on the pickup table.
- During this period of Curbside Pickup at Midyork libraries, it is best if you can return items to the library from which they were borrowed, as this will make them available for others to borrow sooner.
- All returned materials will be quarantined before they are again available to the community. That means it may take up to 5 days for materials you have returned to be removed from your account. Due dates will be extended to include quarantine times.
- The Sullivan Free Library buildings are not open to the public at this time but we are working within recommended guidelines & regulations to make this possible soon.
- Additional programs will be available when we are able to safely provide them to our community.
- Online resources including Libby (Overdrive), Hoopla, RB Digital, & Transparent Language lessons have been available & expanded throughout the closure & will remain available.
- Currently we are not able to accept donations of books or other items.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we find ways to provide services while keeping our staff and community safe.

At this time, we are not able to accept donations of books at either library. Staff are not in the buildings daily to empty the book drops and donations quickly fill up what space is available. In addition, all books that enter the building have to go in quarantine for a period of time and adding donations to that process is beyond our capabilities at this point. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to keep our staff and community safe.
